5/23/2026 (6:00 AM) - 5/25/2026 Mt Adams Climb to summit of Mount Adams, the 2nd highest peak in Washington at 12,281 feet elevation. This will be a 3-day backpacking trip with a total of about 16 miles and 7000 feet of elevation gain and loss. The first day will involve about 3600 feet of elevation gain carrying full packs to camp. We will summit on the 2nd day (without full packs). This is a challenging trip, mostly on snow. Scouts going on this trip must have completed mountaineering training plus backpacking experience and prior climbs on snow such as Mount Ellinor and Mount St. Helen's. Everyone going is strongly encouraged to go on the Muir Run on the prior weekend (May 16). If you have questions, please contact Mr. Gill (the troop mountaineering coordinator) at bgill@spu.edu |
