Olympic National Forest
At 6,800’, Mt Buckhorn is one of the tallest peaks in the front range of the Olympics- and to climb it we do a backpack up the Quilcene river. Friday night we stop at Big Shelter Rock, then push on to camp Mystery on Saturday AM- after lunch we continue up to Marmot Pass, and from there we summit Mt Buckhorn. This is a fun backpack and a challenging climb (13.5 miles and over 5,000’ of vertical climb- with half of that carrying a backpack)
